Best time to visit the Caribbean

Our verdict

The best time to visit the Caribbean is December-April

Are you looking for the best time to visit the Caribbean? Well, you’re in the right place! Although the Caribbean is an incredibly popular destination to visit almost all year round, December-April is the best time to go due to its perfect climate conditions, and it sits outside of the wet/hurricane season. Around this time of year, flights and accommodation are generally higher than during the wet season, but if you book early and avoid peak American and European winter holidays, you might be able to score yourself some great deals.

During the peak of the warmer months, temperatures in Havana, Cuba (one of the most popular places in the Caribbean), can rise to a maximum of around 35℃ (96℉) which is pretty hot! The Caribbean is the perfect place to escape the cold for the winter though. In the evenings in the middle of winter (January), the average minimum temperature is only 18℃ (65℉), which is very pleasant if you’re coming from a cold country. Temperatures often differ in other areas of the Caribbean though so you can find out more information about this below.

If you want to get the most out of your time visiting the Caribbean, or you’re just afraid of the dark, the days in July are usually the longest between sunrise and sunset. You don’t want to get wet on your holiday, do you? Well if you’re trying to avoid the rain, then it might be an idea to steer clear of the Caribbean between June and November as this is the wet season, and also the hurricane season too. Hotels are usually much cheaper during this time, but if you’re looking to score a deal, be prepared to get rained on at least a little bit.
